What do you do when you can’t hand dig through a tree stump. Nobody from 811 has been able to answer this for me.

811 is great. however the responsible marking company should pay more than $12 an hour if they want it done right.

The paint that is used is water soluble. If it is put on driveways, which is needed for boring under driveways, then it should wash off in the rain. If not, a simple power wash will do the trick. Paint does no damage and is required to ensure the contractors do not hit your power or water or sewer or gas or even communication lines. Its not vandalism, it is required by your city and its a great thing. You should be worried if these utilities are not marked. Also, it isn't trespassing. Most city wide contracting is approved by the city and takes place within the cities easement. If you don't know what your city's easement is, you should. Ergo, no trespassing either. Sorry, but you are incorrect.

I have come home to paint on my landscaping more than once. Other stories of damage to property, such as paint on permanent fixtures, foundations, sidewalks, etc. I understand these services keep our communities safe, but I would like to advocatie for home owners rights. Vandalism like this must stop. Also, a simple call before ‘trespassing’ would be appreciated. I see flags in my back yard with absolutely no idea why they are there. With young children and a dog, this is very unsettling to me.
